Pink Is For Girls!

Evidently, the Chinese don't make the distinction of the color pink being only for girls to wear. You see little boys wearing pink everywhere. When David was placed with us, he was wearing little white sneakers with bright pink patent leather trim. Yesterday, I decided it was high time to get him some "boy shoes"! We went to the shopping mall, to a little shop that sold adorable children's shoes. I held up David's foot and said, "Xie!" (shoes). I pointed to several cute pairs in brown and navy blue. The clerk showed me a pink pair. "Bu!" (no) I said. I held up a few more brown and navy shoes. She showed me three more pairs in pink! Finally,my Mandarin kicked in. "Wo bu yao feng hong si!" (I don't want pink!) Her face lit up - she understood! She found me a cute brown pair, they fit perfectly, and we were on our way!

Way to go, Mama!!!! I am glad taht he is starting to make adjustments and opening up a bit. The journey is far from over, but it is certainly a step in the right direction.

Oh, Becky. I am crying here with you. The emotional ups and downs. Playing ball, I am so glad David laughed with you and Al. He is adorable! We can't wait to meet him. What a beautiful time to witness and be a part of this transition. Although it will be a crazy roller coaster... the Lord will be with you all the way; guiding and leading. Blessings to you, Al and that wonderful son of yours, David!!
